Walk-a-thon

We had our school's annual Walk-a-thon. It was a gorgeous day outside and we had lots of helpful moms.  The kids did great! They cheered and kept up! We got to eat grilled hot dogs outside for lunch and then a snow cone truck came! The kids loved it. I had one kid tell me "This is the best day of my life!" haha. It was sweet.

Fractions

We have been doing various activities to help us learn fractions this year. We've made fraction pizzas, fraction kits, and did Smartboard lessons as well.

Mother's Day Project

For our Mother's Day project, we created portraits of our mothers and used adjectives to describe them.

First Communion

We decorated our own challis'!
We spent a lot of time preparing for our First Communion. A big thank you to Mrs. Huff for all of her hard work too.

Mrs. Huff hosted "dinner." We had bread and sparkling grape juice in the challis' that we painted. It was very spiritual and the kids enjoyed it.

We finally got to the big day, which was wonderful! The kids practiced a lot and worked really hard. My favorite part was when they all sang "Supper of the Lamb" together. It was a very special day.

Some Fun

Jump Rope for Heart! Our school raised money to benefit the American Heart Association. We jumped rope the afternoon away :)
I decided to give it a try!
Then we went into the gym for some activities.
The kids made a healthy foods collage.

Multiplication

Multiplication can be a tricky concept to grasp for 7 and 8 year olds. I tried to make it very hands on. We worked on recognizing multiplication as repeated addition and "groups of."

We did some SmartBoard activities using "groups of."

We put different things in each of our hands and turned them into multiplication sentences.

Shapes, Shapes, Shapes

We've been working on several things in Math at once...One thing we've been doing is shapes.
We did a Shape Walk.

We also named the different types of shapes and designed our own Shape Monsters.

And our finished products.

Easter

Easter eggs the kids designed. They were very creative!
The Easter bags I put together for the kids. I put in candy and a little Happy Easter note.
I also gave each child a copy of the "Jelly Bean Prayer" and gave them Jelly Beans.  I think it's a beautiful poem that helps us remember the reason for Easter.

Spring is Here!

 Discussing adjectives that describe spring.

Spring is here! I took the kids outside to think of some spring adjectives! We did our rough drafts on the paper and then I spell checked them (and made sure they were adjectives) and turned them into spring rainbows.
