Amelia Bedelia

We've been working on cause and effect relationships over the past week. Reading "Amelia Bedelia" books have been great for that! The kids have done a couple cause and effect worksheets relating to one of the Amelia Bedelia stories we read. Today, we drew our own Amelia Bedelia characters and came up with three cause and effect relationships. I didn't know I had so many cartoonists in my room :)

I love hearing the sounds of the kid's laughs when Amelia does something silly. It's part of the reason I started teaching :) I also like reading these stories because I loved when my mom would read them to me when I was younger.

Healthy Recipes

In Science, we've been studying health - why it's important to eat healthy, get plenty of sleep, exercise, etc. We're currently working on healthy habits Powerpoint slideshows (I'll post when they're finished). We looked at some cook books and recipes and came up with our own healthy recipes to put in a class cookbook.

We had a very busy Valentine's Day this past week. We did a lot of writing activities as well as had our Valentine's Day party! Here are a few pics from our day!

Field Trip

We took our 2nd field trip to the Taft Theatre to see the Children's Theatre's performance of "My Son Pinocchio Jr." We had much better seat this time than we did last time. The kids really seemed to enjoy this show just as much as the last.

The Spelling Game
Every week when we get our new spelling words the students get to act out the word and the other have to guess the word then spell it correctly. The kids do a great job with it.

Hat Designers

Friday, Mrs. Suitter came in and helped us design our own hats! The kids were very creative. I think we may a few fashion designers in our room :)

Catholic Schools Week

This past week we had our Catholic Schools week. We had crazy hat day, decade day, and Bingo! We also celebrated the 100th day of school! We did things like 100 jumping jacks, a 100 yard dash, wrote stories about what the world would be like in 100 years, and what we would do with 100 dollars.  The kids had a lot of fun this week.

 We also made self portraits of what we would look like when we were 100 years old.
