On to May

 Crazy hat day!
The kids and moms threw me/Baby Stovall a wonderful baby shower! We played fun games and I got some very thoughtful gifts. Thank you so much!
We had a diaper changing race...

The kids estimated how wide my belly was. Miss Channing was the closest!
 Beautiful flowers I received!
The following week we also had a pizza party for lunch because we won a contest! Wahoo!

April catch up

We finished up our Stars of the Week. Nicholas brought in his sister, dad, and a hedgehog. It was neat! I had never seen a real hedgehog before!
Henry brought in his mom to read a story and his dog.
He also brought in his dad to teach us about marketing and product development (with cookies).

The kids also made their First Communion and did a wonderful job. They were all reverent and well behaved for the Mass. I was so proud of them!
We worked on fractions a few weeks ago. I think they really enjoyed that chapter.
 We made fraction hats.
 We played fraction games.
 We made fraction pizzas.
We played fraction Smart Board games.

 We also made fraction kites!

 Happy 8th Birthday, Norah!
We also started a Native American history research project, which the kids are having a lot of fun doing.

March Wrap-Up

I can't believe it's already the end of March. The year is flying by! We've been busy in second grade.
For Ella's STAR of the Week, her mom came in and taught us a little bit about architecture. The kids got to design their own house!
On St. Patrick's Day an Irish dancing school came to perform for us. It was really neat!

Ella and her mom reading us a book for her STAR of the week. Her grandparents also came!

We've also been working on adjectives. Below the kids are thinking of an object and writing adjectives to describe them for their partners to guess.

 Happy birthday, Brick!

For Chloe's STAR of the Week, her mom came in and talked to us about genetics.
We created DNA double helix strands out of candy. So cool!

 We also played genetics bingo!
 Happy birthday, Nico!

Moving onto March

We had a very busy week! We celebrated Mardi Gras with John's mom who brought us some beads and King cake and taught us the history of Mardi Gras. It was so interesting! We also have been hard at work on mental math with Mr. Barrett. He's been teaching us some strategies to help make math easier and quicker for us. We also have been learning about matter and textures of matter. We were scientists and classified Chex Mix based on different textures. The kids really enjoyed it. We've also been working on contractions - the kids made caterpillar contractions.

Using our base 10 blocks for mental math.
